Paella is a house specialty at the Vineyards Inn

Paella is a house specialty at the Vineyards Inn

When we stopped for lunch at the Vineyards Inn during a wine-tasting weekend, I had no idea of the culinary adventure that awaited. All I knew was that this is the Greenest Restaurant in the Bay Area and they serve Spanish cuisine, which was all I needed to hear. Continue reading

Sonoma Wine Country offers unlimited adventures

Sonoma Wine Country offers unlimited adventures

Starting the New Year with a Girlfriend Getaway to the Sonoma Wine Country was one of my best ideas ever. Fitting relaxation and fun into 48 short hours was the predicament. Our priorities were simple – time at the spa, wine tasting, great food, and shopping. The Flamingo Resort, conveniently located close to Sonoma wineries, was the top choice for all of the adventures that we had planned. Continue reading

A day of pampering

A day of pampering

One of my New Year’s resolutions was to spend more time with my girlfriends and to take better care of my physical health. What better way to accomplish both than with a Girlfriend Getaway weekend. On the list of must-dos were spa treatments, wine tasting and gourmet meals. Finding the perfect location for our weekend was an easy choice. My favorite wine country resort, The Flamingo, has an on-premise spa that I was dying to try. Continue reading

Experience the Palace Hotel during the holidays

Experience the Palace Hotel during the holidays

One of my favorite holiday traditions is to enjoy a glass of champagne along with afternoon tea in a beautiful hotel. Many of San Francisco’s luxury hotels offer afternoon tea during the holidays, but the Palace Hotel serves tea all year. I can’t think of nicer respite from the madness of holiday shopping than to spend an hour with a friend, to enjoy a pot of perfectly brewed tea along with tea sandwiches, pastries, and scones. There is something very civilized about the ritual of tea. Continue reading

Kauai is a magical place with spiritual energy

When I had the opportunity to participate in a five-day yoga retreat in Kauai, I jumped at the chance. Kauai is one of the world’s most sacred places, located on an energy vortex along with New Zealand and Sedona. The retreat took place during 11/11/11, which was an auspicious date for transformation. Spa with a view

Spa with a view

San Francisco has a plethora of spas from which to choose, but when I am in need of pampering, one of my favorite places is Nob Hill Spa. This beautiful spa is located in the stately Huntington Hotel atop Nob Hill. To reach the spa you descend down a spiral staircase where a stunning infinity pool and beautiful skyline views await. Most spas don’t provide views, but at Nob Hill Spa it is definitely an amenity. Continue reading

A private tasting of exceptional sparkling wine

A private tasting of exceptional sparkling wine

One of my most memorable wine-tasting experiences was an intimate tasting at Frank Family Vineyards with Tasting Room Manager Dennis Zablosky. Frank Family Vineyards makes both still and sparkling wine, and I had arranged in advance to have a private tasting of their sparkling wines. Upon arriving at the beautiful property, I was ushered into the inner sanctum for my tasting. Continue reading

Savor Italian wines in an authentic Tuscan Castle

Imagine tasting excellent wine in a Tuscan castle and later riding through the vineyards in a horse-drawn carriage – in the Napa Valley. At Castello di Amorosa you can create your own VIP experience with plenty of style. This beautiful winery was inspired by the owner’s love of medieval castles and wine. Continue reading
