Maxine Tatlonghari is an entrepreneur, philanthropist and makeup junkie. Oh and yes, she also loves to travel.  She met Jetset Extra founder Teresa Williamson at a women’s entrepreneur event in Los Angeles, and the two bonded immediately over a love of planes, Paris, champagne and Chanel.  She has lived abroad (Tokyo), and has also spent time in Paris, London, Amsterdam, Marrakech, New Zealand, India, Spain, Italy,  Korea and Jamaica.  She does however, call West Hollywood home and she loves it.   Celebrity fans and clients of her www.VanityGirlHollywood.com vanities include Kim Kardashian, Cindy Crawford, Mariah Carey (tour), Whitney Houston (tour), 2010 Olympics and CW’s “Vampire Diaries.”  It only made sense to welcome her to our team as our Hollywood (and beyond) insider.

It’s raining men.    Remember that episode of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills when Lisa, Taylor, Pandora, and friends head over to Chippendales in Vegas for Pandora’s bachelorette party?  Well, you don’t have to drive all the way to Vegas to have a little girlfriend fun.  Right here at Hollywood and Highland, the Hollywood Men have been “Viagra for Women” (their words, not mine) for more than 17 years. Black vanities lit up the backstage area at the live, interactive photo shoot

Black vanities lit up the backstage area at the live, interactive photo shoot

I love the Panaroma Room at the Andaz West Hollywood.  My first trip up to the penthouse level was a few years ago, when I was launching the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life in West Hollywood and wanted to engage the business community in the event.  I went to the Board Installation lunch for the West Hollywood Chamber and learned that here in WeHo, you could do business AND have fun.  I loved being an event planner and fundraiser.  And as fate (and the recession) would have it, I was laid off from that job back in March 2008, but event marketing, especially in West Hollywood, is still such a big part of my life and career today. Kick up your five-inch stilettos at the Cosmopolitan's Boulevard Pool

Kick up your five-inch stilettos at the Cosmopolitan's Boulevard Pool

A couple of weeks ago I headed to Vegas with my friends MaryAnne (JetsetExtra owner and producer) and Heather for a girls’ getaway.  Of course, I had to squeeze some work in (hi, I’m Maxine and I’m a workaholic) - so Cosmoprof and a Vanity Mixer with Inglot Cosmetics at Caesar’s Palace were first on my agenda. The Pala Casino Spa and Resort in Pala, California

So about once a month, one of my best friends, Amy, disappears with her family to Pala Casino Spa and Resort (owned by the Pala Band of Mission Indians) for a quick little R&R from LA.  At about 90 minutes away, it makes sense. Continue reading

JAY-Z performs at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas - New Year's Eve and Grand Opening Celebration

… I sure was on New Year’s Eve!  With all of the amazing promotion that The Cosmopolitan had done prior to their grand opening on New Year’s weekend … I knew this is really where I wanted to ring in 2011 and I was excited to be on the Red Carpet to experience it firsthand.   They pride themselves on a unique luxury experience, and it is.  It was an invitation-only weekend and we were on the list. Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

With New Year’s right around the corner … I don’t think I’m alone in trying to decide where to ring in 2011. Last year I was in London, so I played with the idea of perhaps tangoing in Argentina or swimming in Turks and Caicos.  But a tried and true good time for anyone in Los Angeles … is Vegas, baby, Vegas!!  I have quite a few friends who will already be there since Angelenos go to Vegas all the time (Here’s my article about The Palazzo). Wow.  Has it really taken me this long to get myself to Cecconi’s? SoHo House opened this famed London eaterie here in WeHo at the corner of Robertson and Melrose in February 2009 literally 5 minutes (on foot no less) from my West Hollywood flat. Continue reading

So, Jetsetters … A couple of posts ago I introduced you to one of my female entrepreneur inspirations, Loren Ridinger, with an exclusive interview for JetsetExtra.com.   If I hadn’t had to leave NYC last week to get back to Hollywood, I would have loved to have seen Loren’s trunk show live and in person.   After all, I am a Vanity Girl and I love jewelry and celebrities.  And if it comes with a charity tie-in?  I’m in!
